Sitting high up in India’s far north, at over 3,500 metres on a plateau, Ladakh is home to the imposing and majestic Himalayan Mountain ranges. It also showcases one of the best preserved Buddhist settlements in all its glory and unassuming grace. Rugged snow-capped mountains and turquoise-hued lakes serenade you while heart-warming hospitality embraces you in this high-altitude paradise, making it one of the most surreal, picturesque places on earth. Come, feel Ladakh and its unique culture, the calming serenity and its nippy mountain air!

ITINERARY

Day 1 – 13th August, Friday - Arrive in Leh

On arrival in Leh, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude. Walk around the town; get a feel of the climate and surrounds. In the afternoon, begin exploring Leh – admire the royal 17th century Leh Palace, perched atop the deserted Namgyal Hill, and the glorious white-domed Shanthi Stupa which is a visual delight. You will also apply for the necessary permits.

Day 2 – 14th August, Saturday - Leh (Rafting)

After breakfast, set out to explore the 1000-year-old Alchi monastery - the only Gompa in Ladakh that is built on flat ground. Thereafter, proceed to the Likir Monastery to visit the splendid Dharma Wheel Gompa. Be awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues, and admire the spellbinding Sangam (confluence of Indus and Zanskar rivers). Drive further along the Indus river visiting the Pathar Sahib Gurdwara (place of worship of the Sikhs) and Magnetic Hill (where vehicles defy gravity); you will then go on to the Basgo Palace(which once was the erstwhile capital of Ladakh) and the Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum that houses some of the Kargil War memorabilia)

Time now to pump some adrenalin and roll up your sleeves, as you head for some rafting in the rapids of the Himalayas. (2 hours; from Chilling to Nimoo which is a 30- km stretch)

Day 3 – 15th August, Sunday - Leh – Nubra (about 5 hours)

After an early breakfast, leave for the panoramic Nubra Valley, passing through the scenic villages of the Himalayas. The road then goes higher to reach Khardungla, which at 5,602 meters is the highest motorable road in the world. Admire sweeping views over the city of Leh. Proceed to Hunder, a quaint little hamlet in Nubra Valley, offering a spectacular 360-degree view of the snow clad mountain covered with a glittering blanket of white sand dunes.

Overnight Stay: Nubra Valley, Desert Himalaya Resort

Day 4 – 16th August, Monday - Nubra Valley – Leh (about 5 hours)

After a leisurely breakfast, start out to visit the famous 14th century Diskit Monastery that is set deep in the sparsely-populated remote region of Nubra Valley, exuding an aura of spirituality. Right on the top, behind the monastery, stands a 106-foot-tall Lord Buddha statue – it is the tallest in the Ladakh region, drawing a significant population of Buddhist followers to its altar.
Continue on to Leh as you admire the changing scenery of snow-capped mountains interspersed with lakes and gorges taking you through a surreal world of charm!

Spend the rest of the day browsing the colourful markets of Leh; pick up your gifts and souvenirs.

Day 5 – 18th August, Tuesday - Leh – Pangong Lake– Leh (4 hours one way)

Early this morning, have an early breakfast and leave for the beautifully scenic Pangong Tso Lake through the Changla Pass, one of the most picturesque routes with stunning views. The lake is spread across both India and China; fall in love with this one-of-a-kind picture perfect river; enjoy the landscape that doubles up to render as a breath-taking back drop to the lake and drive on to the camp for your overnight stay.

Day 6 – 19th August, Wednesday - Depart Leh

Visit the lake early in the morning to enjoy unparalleled views over the lake and later, drive back to Leh via Hemis Monastery, said to be the wealthiest in Leh and where the sacred mask festival is held annually. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 7 – 20th August, Thursday - Depart Leh

Today you will be met and transferred to the airport for your flight to Delhi and onward home.

Itinerary Changes

While every effort is made to provide tour arrangements as described, Footprint reserves the right to modify or cancel the itinerary at its sole discretion, for the comfort, convenience, safety and security of Clients. The Company would also try to inform the Client about these changes, prior to the start of the tour or during tour if that be possible. Any additional expenses incurred due to causes beyond our control, including (but not limited to) flight delay or cancellation, accidents, weather, road conditions, natural disasters, political action, terrorism, or social unrest, must be borne by the traveler. Penalties and/or service charges may apply in the event of cancellation or last-minute changes to the itinerary

Travel Documents

It is entirely your responsibility to arrange, provide and carry on tour valid travel documents including Passport, which is valid for a period of at least six months from the date of travel and immigration clearance (if applicable), medical clearances, inoculation / vaccination certificates as the case may be to be able to travel as per the tour itinerary.

Visas

It is convenient and safe to have Visa applications made to the concerned Consulates / Authorities through Footprint. As granting or rejecting visas and immigration clearance is the sole prerogative of the concerned sovereign governments, the Company shall neither be responsible in case of non-granting of such documents nor liable for any delay, denial or other related act/omission or for any loss, expense, damage or cost resulting there from.

You should ensure that you submit the relevant documents and photographs within the stipulated time as mentioned in the Documentation Check List the Company will provide you. The Company would not be responsible or liable in any way in case any clerical error regarding names, attachment of wrong photographs, duration, type of visa (single / multiple entry) or actual non-issue of visa by the consulate / embassy. You shall be fully responsible to check the visas, their validity, details and the correctness thereof.

The visa fee when prescribed includes the actual visa charge, cost of processing fees, the professional charges of the Company and overheads. Even if visas are rejected, the stipulated fees of the Company shall be payable by you. If the passports are required to be mailed for visas / POE to different cities, company would mail the passports by reputed courier. In case of loss or delay of the passport arising out of such transmission, company would not be responsible to compensate the holder for any loss whatsoever.

If however, you decide to process your visas independently and not through the Company, it would solely be your responsibility to ensure that you have the required visas for travel.

Insurance

Footprint strongly recommends that you purchase individual travel insurance, which will provide valuable financial protection in case of unexpected occurrences. Medical services in most countries are extremely expensive, medical expenses may not be up to the mark, rendering medical evacuation necessary.
We highly recommend the purchase of individual travel insurance, which may provide valuable financial protection in case of unexpected occurrences, such as medical emergencies and evacuation in the event of an accident or illness, and loss or damage to luggage or personal belongings.

Payments

Payments for tours have to be made in full prior to departure date or earlier as specified by Footprint. Exchange rates as applicable will be obtained from a reputed bank and will be at the sole discretion of the Company. Exchange rate fluctuations between date of invoicing and date of payment may result in a change in the pricing. For Indian Nationals resident in India, the Company will require you to sign a BTQ declaration as stipulated by Reserve Bank of India norms for leisure travel.

Cancellation

If the Client wants to cancel the tour, he must intimate the Company in writing mailed to us at our office address on working days within office time. In case of cancellation, the following cancellation charges would apply:

If cancelled between 60-31 days prior to start date 50% of the tour cost is non refundable
If cancelled between 30-16 days prior to start date 75% of the tour cost is non refundable
If cancelled 15 days or less prior to start date 100% of the tour cost is non refundable

After the start of the holiday no refunds will be made for any unutilized portion of the holiday. It is clearly understood that there shall be no refund whatsoever if the Client does not or cannot utilize any of the services like hotels, sightseeing, rides, cruises, meals, entrance fees, optional tours etc due to any reason whatsoever.

In addition to Footprint’s Terms and Conditions on cancellation stated above, the Terms and Conditions specified by such Suppliers whose services we may utilize, including their payment schedule, cancellation, refund etc. shall also be applicable.

Refunds

If the tour or any part thereof cannot be conducted due to Force Majeure or Vis Majeure, the Company shall not be responsible to give any refund to the Client. However, it may at its sole discretion the Company give a refund based on various factors like the cancellation policies of suppliers like hoteliers, coach operators, etc. the decision of the Company on the quantum of refund shall be final. It would take at least 45 days to process the refund (if due). In case of refund of foreign currency component, the said refund shall be made in Indian Rupees only at the prevailing buying rate on the date of refund as per existing Rules and regulations.

Liability

Though we select reputed suppliers after we inspect their infrastructure, we have no direct control over such services or persons providing such services or their staff. Footprint cannot be held responsible if the contemplated service is not provided by the supplier or there is a defect or deficiency in the services provided by any supplier, by an act or omission, intentional, negligence or otherwise. Consequently, any delay injury, death, loss or damage is caused on the above account does not render us liable to the Clients who have chosen us as the travel agent. However, in case a client is not satisfied with a particular service, we can take up the matter with the supplier if we are informed immediately.
